Band Bios


THE VOCALISTS


Emil Campbell, II - A native of Florida, Emil began performing with his own band at the age of 12. He has been described as "energetic", "dynamic" and "versatile". His electric presense on stage has earned Emil wide acclaim form Florida to Las Vegas, where he made his mark with dynamic impressions of "Michael Jackson" and "Prince". He was the music director for Anita Ward, who put out the hit single "Ring My Bell", and has been in plays such as the hit musical "Inner City Opera". Emil is currently doing a recording project at Prince's Paisley Park Studios and serves as The R Factor's band leader.

Jasmine Jones - Jasmine's performance and versatility shines in her most recent musical endeavors as a cast member of the nationally recognized play"Beehive", a tribute to the Ladies of the 60's. She has toured extensively across the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands as a member of the backup for the Del Vikings. She also just finished another play, "Inner City Opera" which is in the process of putting out a CD recording to present to Broadway for 1997. Jasmine's also currently recording at Paisley Park.

Mark Lickteig - Mark's voice has earned him performances with Bonnie Raitt, Dr. John, and the Neville Brothers. His band "Spark" has opened for Charlie Daniels, Three Dog Night, and Lou Rawls. He was appointed band leader and lead singer for the house band at Gatlin's Music City in the Mall of America; and he has also sung on national commercials for Chevrolet (Heartbeat of America), Busch Beer and Hallmark Cards.

Lisa Pallen - Lisa's formal musical training took place at the University of Wisconsin - Steven's Point, where she majored in music with an emphasis on vocal jazz. She has performed across the U.S. and the European continent. Lisa has perfromed with The R Factor for 4 years and is a first call vocalist in the Twin Cities area.

Kimberly Michaels - Kim has perfromed in bands such as the Klick and Chazz & the NFS. She has provided backup for famous groups like Stanley Clarke, George Duke and Sheila Raye Robinson (daughter of Ray Charles). Kim has studied acting and has experienced voice lessons in Opera, Jazz and Gospel along with instructions in piano and composition. With special skills in Dance and an education in Marketing and Business, Kim brings another dimension to the total package of The R Factor.

Scott Anderson - Scott started his first band at the age of 16. He then went on to study at the University of Wisconsin - Steven's Point. As a performer, Scott has toured Europe and perfromed for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. He has played with numerous Twin City groups and has done recordings for Ski-Doo Corporation.

Jeff Fawbush - Jeff has a BS degree form Moorhead State University and studied saxophone at Berkeley in Boston. He has toured Europe on two separate U.S.O. tours and has played extensively across the upper mid-west. Jeff has also performed with Bonnie Raitt. Jeff also serves as The R Factor's musical director.


THE RHYTHM SECTION


Charles Hayes - Charles is in heavy demand as a studio musician in the Twin Cities. He has toured with Bonnie Raitt and has performed with Eddie Money, The Beach Boys and Del Shannon. Charles' virtuosity has put him on the recordings of Alexander O'Neal and The Jets. When not performing with various bands in the Twin Cities, Charles is passing his musical knowledge on to numerous studios as a producer.

Brad Broenen - Brad has studied muscial theory at the College of St. Thomas and through Berklee College of Music. His technical skills have earned him accolades with numerous Twin City groups. Brad brings to The R Factor his expertise in the areas of song writing, arranging and professional recording.

Neal Thorgrimson - Neal has a BA in music from Metro State University, Minneapolis,MN and is a Musicians Technical Training Institute graduate. As a teacher, he is on the faculty of Musicians Technical Training Institute. Neal has perfromed with the reggae group Ipso Facto and the rhythm and blues band Rebekka Fisher, and toured all over the United States and abroad. He has also been a support act in recent concert dates with international pop groups including Ringo Starr's Allstars, Bad Company, Foreigner, R.E.M., and Steppenwolf just to name a few.

Ron Heyne - Known on the music scene as Ronna-Jay, Ron has been playing drums for 18 years. He performs R&B, Blues, Rock and Roll, and Jazz. His experience has included working with such national recording artists like "Alexander O'Neil", "The Steele Family" and "Mint Condition". Ron has also worked on projects with individual artists such as Tommy Barbarella and David Berry (guitarist for Janet Jackson), just to name a few. Ron states, "My love for music comes from deep within my heart. If the beat ain't thumpin', and the people ain't dancin', then someone else must be kickin' the drums. I'll make you rock!"


THE STRING SECTION


Lynn Stonehocker - Born in Ontario, Canada, Lynn began playing violin and piano at the tender age of 6. Her formal education began at DePaul University in Chicago, and she received her BA in violin perfromance from the University of Miami. Lynn has performed in orchestras and chamber groups across the U.S. and overseas in Europe.
