The Purple Ones has been packing crowds into SF’s classic venues such as Bimbos 365 Club, Slims, Red Devil Lounge, Cafe DuNord, Oakland’s The New Parish and The Uptown, San Jose’s RockBar Theater and The Blank Club, Redwood City’s Club Fox, Sacramento’s Harlow’s, Fresno’s Fulton 55, to name a few. In addition, TPO has also performed at many summer concert series and fair & festivals. In October 2013, TPO was asked to perform at the highly acclaimed Bay Area’s Treasure Island Music Festival on the sidestage. The festival is put on by Another Planet/Noisepop Productions.
Recently, legendary comedian/singer-songwriter Margaret Cho joined the band onstage. Margaret, who is a huge Prince fan, has taken a fond liking to TPO’s energetic stage presence and true to form homage to Prince’s music.
This all star Bay Area band features top notch musicians of current and former staple bands such as The New Morty Show, 4 Non Blondes, 2014 Grammy-winning Pacific Mambo Orchestra, Huey Lewis and The News, latin jazz giant The John Santos Sextet, Foreverland, Superdiamond, Casino Royale, Joshua Cook and The Key of Now, and more.
The band is comprised of 4 horns, 2 guitars, keyboards, drums and fronted by the uncanny voice of Kazam Ali (Lead Vocals/Electric Bass) and Pamela Fields (Lead Vocals)
Party like its 1999 with bandmembers as they faithfully power though hit after hit from A sides to B sides and deep cuts with classics such as Little Red Corvette, 1999, I Feel for You, I Would Die 4 U, Controversy, It’s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night, Purple Rain, When Doves Cry, Lets Go Crazy, as well as Prince staples Darling Nikki, Computer Blue, Dirty Mind and so many more including Morris Day and The Time’s The Bird and Jungle Love.
