THE Soft Parade was formed in 1990 by lead singer and front man Joe Russo. Today the band is internationally revered as the #1 Doors tribute show. They have toured the world, drawing massive audiences in Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Canada and even Israel. In the United States they are a headline attraction at colleges, clubs and festivals everywhere.
They have performed on stage with Doors guitarist ROBBY KRIEGER and earned acclaim from Doors keyboardist RAY MANZAREK and late Doors producer PAUL ROTHCHILD, and have been featured in dozens of TV and news media including MTV, VH-1, American Journal, Good Morning America, The New York Times and Daily News.
THE Soft Parade also had the distinction of being the only tribute band chosen to perform at the 25th Anniversary Woodstock Festival in Bethal, NY along side such luminaries as Mountain, Canned Heat, Richie Havens and Soul Asylum. But what makes THE Soft Parade such a phenomenon? It lies with their ability to recreate the sights and sounds of the Doors live concert so genuinely and intensely, that audiences are held spellbound.
Photographs only hint at the uncanny physical resemblance Joe Russo bears to Jim Morrison. The voice, the movements, the potent sexual charisma.....Keyboardist Mike Abel, intensely hunched over his vintage Gibson organ and piano bass, captures the fluid rhythms of Ray Manzarek.....Drummer Roy Weinberger pounds his Ludwig drums with the same unique jazz-oriented stylings created by John Densmore.....Guitarist Joseph Bilotti plays his Gibson SG, reproducing the same strange, unconventional style of Robby Krieger.
Whenever THE Soft Parade performs, something unique and entrancing starts to happen that draws crowds from all age groups that come to experience something many of them were to young to witness first hand.
